The latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday have seen significant changes, particularly for India’s top-order batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has now entered the top ten in the ICC Men’s T20 batting rankings.
Gaikwad achieved this milestone after an unbeaten 77 off 47 balls in India’s dominant 100-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20I at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. This performance catapulted him 13 places up the rankings, moving from 20th to seventh, with Australian opener Travis Head maintaining the top spot.
Other Indian players also made notable strides in the rankings. Rinku Singh, who played aggressively for 48 runs off 22 balls in the second T20I, climbed four places to secure the 39th position. Rinku was a reserve player in India’s triumphant T20 World Cup campaign last month.
Abhishek Sharma, despite scoring zero in his first international match for India, registered a brilliant century off just 47 balls in the second match, earning him the 75th position in the rankings.
In the bowlers’ rankings, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who took six wickets in the first two matches against Zimbabwe, moved up eight places to 14th position.
In the all-rounder rankings, Sri Lankan leg-spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has reached the top spot, while Hardik Pandya has returned to second place. India’s off-spin all-rounder Washington Sundar entered the top 50 after taking three wickets in two matches in Zimbabwe and scoring a quick 27 runs in the first match.
